Summary
Hive, the connected home division of British Gas, is offering consumers an immersive experience at this year's Gadget Show Live as part of an experiential campaign.

Hive, the connected home division of British Gas, is using virtual reality as part of an experiential campaign at this year’s Gadget Show Live to immerse consumers in the future Hive connected home.

Hive’s ‘Future House’ activation, created by BEcause Experiential Marketing in partnership with Somo, aims to bring to life the concept of the connected home, using a series of Hive technologies and services. It will combine an immersive virtual reality experience with knowledgeable brand ambassadors to heighten brand awareness and drive sales.

The activation will run for four days at The Gadget Show Live 2016 at NEC Birmingham from 31st March to 3rd April and is also scheduled to appear at other selected events throughout 2016.

The experience will include a modular contemporary seating area in which consumers will be able to immerse themselves in the future of the Hive connected home via Somo’s virtual reality experience.

Using Oculus Rift headsets, visitors will be transported to a virtual reality where they will experience how aspects of the home can be controlled by Hive products, from heating and lighting to electrical appliances. It will help prospective buyers move beyond the theory and experience the reality.

Katie Penfold, Managing Partner at BEcause Experiential Marketing, comments:

“Through total immersion in the world of the automated home, The Future House creative concept will be offering consumers the chance to really explore how Hive’s products work and to have any questions answered. The activation will allow people to better visualise how the technology can support busy lifestyles. The experience area has been carefully constructed to create intrigue and stand out, with its open design reinforcing Hive’s brand values of inclusivity.”

The experiential activity comes in the wake of the launch of Hive’s latest range of connected products, including Hive Active Heating™, Hive Active Plug™, Hive Motion Sensor and Hive Window or Door sensor.
